Welcome from the Headmaster

Staying ahead of the curve takes hard work, dedication and strong foundations

In sending your child to Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, you have enabled them to attend a Top 25 state school, which strives for and achieves academic excellence. In 2020, 82% of our boys achieved top grades (7-9) at GCSE with an excellent progress score of +1.2. Typically, 84% of our ‘A’ Level students obtain A*-B. Stunning academic results are not, however, our only strength here at AGSB. We also place special onus on developing the boys outside the classroom with our extensive extra-curricular programme.

Following year-on-year government budget cuts to education, we have had to make significant reductions in school expenditure.  Over 80% of our government income is spent on salaries for staff as well as every day running costs. To ensure that government income cuts do not impact the education we offer our boys, we rely on your support. Without parents contributing to AGSD, we would not have been able to afford key facilities and resources such as:

  • The Physics building
  • The Sports hall and Astro Pitch
  • The 6th Form Centre
  • The new teaching complex (due for completion in December)

As a School, we are working hard to ensure that the AGSB Experience – the thing that makes this school so special to our pupils – is not threatened. But to do this, we need your help.

With your contribution to the Altrincham Grammar School Developments fund, we can ensure the AGSB Experience continues to grow and develop and support your child in finding their individual interests and talents.

How can you help?

  • Make a regular gift using the online direct debit form
Just £25 per month, per pupil, would raise £360,000 per annum with the potential of another £72,000 with Gift Aid.

  • Make a one-off-donation

With your contribution to the Altrincham Grammar School Developments fund, we can ensure the AGSB Experience continues to grow and develop and support your child in finding their individual interests and talents.

Yours faithfully,

G.A Wright
